Showdown in O'Town and UFC 2010 Tournament RESULTS

Category : , ,

This week saw an out of province ripper take part in Showdown. Tyler Riddle was down visiting family from Trenton and decided to swing by the skatepark to see what the scene was like around here. He ended up diggin the park enough to come back a few times and on his last night in town, stopped in to play Showdown. With a pool of constant placers expected to show up, Tyler probably didn't think he would end up in the finals with former Trenton homeboiii TJ Leighton and O'Town local, Chris Walsh.

Chris pressure flipped his way to the final beating out Terry Scott, who currently sits in second place in the summer-long tournament. Chris reported his win with a big smile while Terry understandably drove home in silence listening to blaring heavy metal.

The finale ended up being something from The Berrics, with nollie tre flips, double varial and backside flips, and full on one foot landings. The game came down to T to T. Both skaters survived a third "last try" with TJ finally falling victim to an inward heelflip, a trick he had used to win last week's challenge from BK.

With this Showdown in the books, the results are as follows:
TJ Leighton 40 pts
Terrence Scott 21
Rodney Mann/Collin "Collywood" Williams/Chris Walsh 17 pts
BK 15 pts
Kyle Albright 12 pts
Steele London/Mike Bennet/ 9 pts
Terrill Sands 8 pts
Connor Atkins/Stephan Curtis/Tyler Riddle 7 pts
Jessie Allen/Josh Palmer 6 pts
Dylan Ratti/Jeremy Hamilton 5 pts
Mat Hinchey/Lucas "Pukas" Butts 4 pts
MOSES/Patrice Savageau 3 pts
A million others at 1 pt

In other news, the UFC 2010 tournament went down tonight and ended up being a really fun time. We had a big screen and projector to digital fight on. Terry Scott went on to beat Mat Hinchey in the final 2 games to none in the best of 3 decider, both by submission with an arm triangle and an ankle lock. since it was such a success, we will be looking at doing similar events into the fall.

UFC TOURNY Tuesday, SKATE CAMP Info, SHOWDOWN Monday

Just a reminder that OSP is hosting a UFC 2010 tournament on Tuesday night. $5 buy-in, winner-takes-all. Registration and practice will go down from 5:30 - 6:00pm and the fighting will commence around 6:05pm after we pick brackets. There has been a lot of interest in this tourny so make sure you show up for your chance to take home some cash!

Another question we have been getting is about whether or not the skate camp will have any effect on regular OSP operations. The short answer is yes. Here's how: The skate camp will run from 1:30pm-4:30pm, so there will be no open skate during that time.

Lastly, Showdown in O'Town will still be going down at the regular time, 7:00pm on Monday night. The race is getting tight but it is not too late to get in the game. A couple times in the top 4 and you have a shot!

Here's a treat:

Showdown in O'Town is more INTENTS THAN CAMPING

If you were following our Facebook, you may have seen THIS post:

As it turns out BK had been thinking about it all day and came to Showdown with his eye on the prize. Landing every variation of inward heel, tre flip, and 360 cleaner than Mr. Clean's bathroom, he was able to power through the first round after handing Rodney his BYE, (which Rodney went on to waste by losing in 5 tricks).

In the second round, BK beat out last week's winner, Terry Scott in a tight game that swung back and forth until BK buried the hatchet with a fakie inward heel.

Colin "Collywood" Williams made his second appearance in the finals to take on BK and took him all the way to E where BK was awarded a third last try that was controversial, but approved by Colin. BK fought back and landed a nollie 360 fs shuv and graciously gave Colin 5 tries to land the trick he had never even attempted. With a fist in the air, Colin rolled away with the trick. The very next set however, BK took the game with a reg frontside 360 shuvit, moving him up to third place just behind Terrence Scott.

*** IN A SHOCKING UPDATE***
TJ Leighton has accepted a challenge from BK, putting 4 points on the line. After a hard fought battle, and against BK's pleads for a double or nothing, second game after he had E, TJ takes it, moving him 4 points further in the lead.

TJ Leighton 31 pts
Terrence Scott 21
Rodney Mann/Collin "Collywood" Williams 17 pts
BK 15 pts
Kyle Albright/Chris Walsh 12 pts
Steele London/Mike Bennet/ 9 pts
Terrill Sands 8 pts

Jessie Allen/Josh Palmer 6 pts
Dylan Ratti 5 pts
Mat Hinchey/Lucas "Pukas" Butts 4 pts
Chris Walsh/MOSES/Patrice Savageau 3 pts
